Individual project for a remote practice project

Pen & paper, Sketch, Adobe Illustrator, InVision Studio

Healthie is a telehealth and practice management platform, (web-based software) and it helps nutrition and wellness professionals start and grow their businesses. I redesigned the product landing page and “dietitians” subpage to meet some specific business goals, and work towards this goal against another two competitors. In the provided timeline, each of us communicated directly with the project manager of Healthie, we obtained online meetings for 3 times during the design process. Although this project was a prototype, I provided a more detailed and thorough proposal, which was finally adopted by them, and offered me an internship opportunity.

Business Goal

Healthie's ultimate goal is that they want more providers (nutrition and wellness professionals) to create a Healthie account and pay for a Healthie subscription.

Requirements

When I started the project, I've got several requirements from the business side:

  1.  Create a new design for the Dietitians page

        a. The same text should be used, but feel free to suggest changes

        b. New imagery can be used

   2.  On the page, providers should clearly see options for each of the following:

        a. Start a free trial —— Primary CTA

        b. Request a demo

        c. Ask a question to Healthie

Brand Discovery

Brand Discovery

Health and wellness providers rely on Healthie run and grow their business. Dieticians, chiropractors, and other types of providers use Healthie's technology platform to manage their client relationships, including appointment scheduling, messaging, journal entries, document sharing, billing, reporting, and more.

With the limited data and information provided, I've proposed the target audience groups and the message that Healthie wants to convey based on my understanding and judgment.

Target Audiences

   1. Primary:

Health and wellness professional providers, which is also considered as members of Healthie.

   2. Secondary:

      General clients of professional providers

Messaging

   1. It is an all-in-one practice management and telehealth platform

   2. It has powerful features that help users save time and increase efficiency

   3. An easy-to-use platform that serves both for providers and their clients

The Problem

Section 3 of the Dietitians page

Problem

    1. There is no "ask for a demo" CTA

   2. The message conveyed is not clear

          a. The overall page is slightly text-heavy,

resulting in not clearly showing the

              needs of users.

          b. There is some repetition of similar

contents, making the page too long

which needs users to keep scrolling

              down.

Section 4 of the Dietitians page

footer.png

Limited information on the nav-bar,  some interesting content can only be found in the footer. It may lose potential clients for making them scrolling down to that far to see some valuable information.

Redesign-Landing Page

Redesign - Landing Page

In order to represent the integrity of the project better, besides the Dietitians sub-page of my redesigning, I additionally proposed to modify the landing page and the overall structure of the website. According to the style guide provided by Healthie, I tried to keep the original style of the brand, which is bright colors and flat design. While the arrangement and structure of the content may be improved in further steps.

Nav-bar

header-home-before.png

Sticky navbar on all pages - Before

  • Before: There are only two tabs——"Features" and "Why Healthie" on the nav-bar, and these two pages have some duplicate content. If the first time web visitors click on the two tabs and seeing a long, repetitive content, they may easily lose their patience and causing Healthie to lose potential clients.

header-home-after.png

Sticky navbar on all pages - After

  • AfterI added a drop-down menu of "Why Healthie", containing "Benefits", "For Members", and "For Clients". Thus, it not only creates a clearer hierarchy but also targets different audiences. It's easier for clients to find different categories that fit their needs.

I also added another tab——"About" with a drop-down menu of "Our mission" and "Success Stories", which I found in the footer. This section may motivate and inspire providers more to get started.

Block that links to the subpage

link-before.png

Link to dietitians page - Before

  • Before: Each box of this section is linked to the "Provider" sub-page (also the Dietitians page I'm redesigning) only has the picture and a title. For first-time web visitors, it requires the second click leading to the sub-pages. And after entering each sub-page, except for the headline and subtitle, the rest of the contents are the same.

  • After: I replaced the picture to in line with the overall style of the page and to keep consistent. I also added the original subtitle of each sub-page so that the user can preview without another click. And If they want to know more about the specific content, they can go ahead and click in, instead of guess around or transit pages back and forth.

Header

Header of dietitians page - Before

  • Before: There is no CTA, and the primary CTA which encourages users to start a free trial (Try it free) is only in sticky nav-bar.

3 cups

Blueberries

  • After: In the header section, I have retained the original main design. According to the requirements, I added 2 CTAs in a normal and classic way, using the theme color to make the primary CTA more prominent, to increase the click-through rate. The original live chat function is good enough to stay in the sticky nav-bar.

Main Content / Body - 1

body1-before.png

Content block of dietitians page - Before

  • Before: The user thinks that the three boxes are clickable, but they're not.

body1-after.png

  •  After: The combination of graphic and text. The flat design graphic could express the relationship between providers and their clients. It also provides multiple funnels for different groups of users. The messaging here is that providers can communicate with their clients better through Healthie platform, bringing the benefits.

Main Content / Body - 2

body2-before.png

Content block of dietitians page - Before

  • Before: Again, there are 8 boxes with only one icon and one title on each box. It requires the second click for users to see the specific contents, which users would be easily losing their patience.

3 cups

Blueberries

Content block of dietitians page - After

  • AfterFor this section, I expected to show the actual user interface of the Healthie platform, but this project has not yet reached that stage, thus currently just a place holder here. When users hover to each icon, the matched feature will be highlighted (tips: hover the after image to see highlights). In this way, users can have an intuitive impression about what the actual user interface will be, rather than guess from text descriptions.

Main Content / Body - 3

body3-before.png

Content block of dietitians page - Before

  • Before: This section has a busy looking content. There are too many things to tell but the typesetting is boring, and the content is only provided more detailed content above.

body3-after.png

Content block of dietitians page - After

  • After: The graphics on the left can be automatically rotated to assist in the display of seven short paragraphs. Since the users would have a general idea about the features of Healthie platform when scrolling down to here already, it’s not necessary to throw out the trivial contents here. As for the choice of image, it may be an actual user interface related to the textual representation, or a chart that indicates an increase in work efficiency, or related illustrations.

Wireframe & Hi-Fi Prototype

Although this project only lasted for three weeks, I learned a lot from this practical experience. The takeaways I get from this project are that visual is important, but the content is more important. When I first got the task for this project, I thought the original design is very complete and perfect, and I didn’t know how to start. Thus I started to delve into the enterprise and communicate with the project manager, I have learned Healthie’s achievements, their business goals, and user's needs.

I found that the content and structure of the web-page needs to be improved.

I believe “good design is good business”, everyone's aesthetic is different, but how to use the externally visual design better serve the inner structure and skeleton is the subject I need to dig in and learn more about it.
